Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! I am thankful for you. Hope you have a wonderful day & week celebrating with family, friends & loved ones.
The holiday season, which begins for most with Thanksgiving and continues through New Year’s Day, often brings unwelcomed stress. And it’s no wonder. In an effort to pull off a perfect holiday, you might find yourself facing a dizzying array of demands — parties, shopping, baking, cleaning and entertaining, to name a few. So much for peace and joy, right? Personally, I always do my best to see the positives in life & focus on my blessings not barriers. How do I accomplish this? I stop to breathe, pray, relax, release & renew. There’s no such thing as super powers…or is there?
I take one day at a time, one hour and sometimes one minute at a time to stay focused & happy. Repeating daily affirmations can be of great benefit. Prayers & Affirmations are like prescriptions for certain aspects you want to change. Affirm continuously to yourself as a reminder to not get discouraged or overwhelmed. Affirm, I am happy, healthy & wise. I am in the right place, at the right time, for the right purpose . I can relax. Peace is my natural state. All things truly work together for the good. I may not understand it now, but everything happens for a reason. This is called breathing through the waves. Next time the tide comes in, we can ride it out instead of it knocking us over. What we focus on becomes alive. Thoughts become things, so choose the good ones.
Although I struggle sometimes, I know these small steps make a big difference. Practice this daily & I promise you will become stronger & balanced in mind, body & spirit. I call it the art of positive living & being. You can do it too with meditation, prayer, yoga, exercise, balance of treats/healthy eating & positive thinking to reduce stress, enjoy life & the holidays a lot more. Try to remember the reason for the season, whether it be faith, family or fun. Also, take a moment to reach out to those who may be having a hard time during this season. Help someone in your community, volunteer your time to feed the homeless, encourage a child, hug a loved one, send an actual card to let someone know you’re thinking of them, say a prayer for our brave men & women (and families) of the armed forces, share your smile, commit to a daily act of kindesss because when we give, we in turn are blessed abundantly.
“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around”. ~Leo Buscaglia

“While earning your daily bread, be sure you share a slice with those less fortunate“. ~Quoted in P.S. I Love You
Is your glass half-empty or half-full? How you answer this age-old question about positive thinking experts say will reflect your outlook on life. In fact, some studies show that the personality traits of optimism and pessimism — can affect many areas of your health and well-being. Positive thinking doesn’t mean that you keep your head in the sand and ignore life’s less pleasant situations. It just means that you approach the unpleasantness in a more positive and productive way. With all this in mind, be sure to surround yourself with postitive people to tap into that inner peace & learn how to put healthy thinking into action in your own life, and reap the benefits this wonderful yet busy holiday season.

“To speak gratitude is courteous and pleasant, to enact gratitude is generous and noble, but to live gratitude is to touch Heaven.” – Johannes A. Gaertner
“Thankfulness is the beginning of gratitude. Gratitude is the completion of thankfulness. Thankfulness may consist merely of words. Gratitude is shown in acts.”-Henri Frederic Amiel
“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life! It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our Past, brings peace for Today, and creates a vision for Tomorrow” - Melody Beattie
“Happiness doesn’t come as a result of getting something we don’t have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.” - Frederick Koenig

Recipe for Happiness 1.
I have a little recipe that isn’t hard to make, but you must always start as soon as you awake.
- Take a great big mixing bowl and fill it with a smile
- Mix half a cup of sunshine with good deeds to last a while.
- Add a pinch of work and play, a pinch of thoughtfulness and care
- But don’t bake it in the oven, just spread it around everywhere.”
Recipe 2.
You have to take a cup of what you think, stir in a few ounces of what you feel, and sprinkle generously with what you do. If what you think is positive, what you feel is joyous, and what you do is loving then you will always create a glorious dinner of delight and happiness for yourself and others. – Joseph Mozzella

* Mix into each day one part of faith, one part of patience, one part of courage and one part of work.
* Add to each day one part of hope, faithfulness, generosity, meditation, prayer and one good deed.
